Proud moments

For Betsy, we have the new skill of fairly competent use of a knife and fork. This comes as a result of two days a week eating lunch in the cantine, which is the school cafeteria. In the French version of school lunch, to nobody's surprise, the children sit and eat three-course meals using silverware. We do hope to get a chance to visit the cantine to see it before we leave France! (Postscript: Alas, we never made it.)

For Molly, a mark of her progress in the language is her nearly perfect score on a recent surprise dictation test that Mme Boulan sprung on them. Aside from omitting a single word just at the end, Molly wrote everything PERFECTLY -- no mean feat in French! (Check out the "bravo" from Mme Boulan.) Molly was extremely proud of this and, trying her best to sound nonchalant, she mentioned after showing us that if we wanted, hint hint, we could take a picture of her dictée.
